Collaborate with makeSEA Curate™ App

Legitimate use cases for Augmented Reality (AR) are many and varied. It can be used in so many industries to assist and improve workflow processes. AR gives an individual or a group the ability to view 3D elements on top of real-world environments through a headset, tablet or smartphone display for entertainment, education, training and enhanced productivity.

Analysts are predicting that AR and VR are disruptive technologies that will drive digital transformation for all economies in the future. According to Analytics Insight, the global AR market was valued at about $3.3B in 2015 and is predicted to reach $133B by the year 2021. This enormous increase is being fueled in part by one of the most compelling use cases for Augmented Reality in the business environment – the ability to collaborate with anyone, anywhere.

makeSEA has developed an application utilizing Augmented Reality and Magic Leap technology, that turns the space around you into a shared workspace. Collaborate with team members regardless of their location. View any 3D content in a mixed reality environment where you can share and collaborate on ideas and design, view videos, PowerPoint presentations and spreadsheets, and manipulate the appearance of objects on the fly. Visualize as if you were all in the same room.

The point of collaboration is to draw on each other’s strengths and face to face collaboration is a much better way to achieve this. Mitigate the issues associated with remote team communication with the makeSEA Curate™ that combines audio capabilities, avatars and a shared immersive experience in a mixed-reality setting for all participants regardless of their location.

Companies of all sizes that utilize remote workers are challenged with creating teams that work from many different locations. One of the issues surrounding the use of remote teams is the lack of direct personal presence. This sometimes leads to misunderstandings and a disconnect for remote team members. Effective collaboration helps teams bond and builds trust as people get to know one another’s thought processes and working styles. When individuals are able to build on each other’s ideas relationships can flourish. The makeSEA Curate App allows team members to interact in real time in a shared environment as if everyone were in the same room.

If you work with remote employees or teams we can help you work better! If you are ready to talk about improving your business processes, call 800-803-1050 or Contact Us to see how easy it is to get your business AR ready. We are enabling digital transformation for everyday business.

AR as a Reference and Training Tool

Augmented Reality (AR) is poised to bring dramatic changes to everyday life, so its not hard to imagine that it is already impacting the workplace. AR technology dates back to the mid-1990s, but now it isn’t considered just a tool for gaming apps–it's proving to be an ally for the work force. AR, and the mixed reality environment it offers, has the potential to improve employee productivity, as it enhances training and skills.

Because this technology provides the ability to overlay information in the context of the real world, let's think about the possibilities for training and repair manuals. Mixed reality devices can allow a worker to view an updated repair manual while performing repairs with their hands, free from a required controller or a manual. Training would also benefit from the same scenario, as workers can participate with hands-on training rather than observing a procedure. And the possibilities for collaboration are endless by enabling remote teams to see exactly what someone is working on in real time so that they can provide suggestions and direction.

Because the information in use for the AR device and the mixed reality experience is a digital version it provides the opportunity to have the latest, most accurate information available, when and where it’s needed most. As workers learn how to use the digital reality hardware, less time will be spent in off-site training so productivity increases. In addition, experienced workers can continually contribute to the knowledge base, preserving valuable skills over time.

As an example, a maintenance worker, engineer or mechanic could look at a specific make or model of a piece of equipment and be safely taken through the diagnostics and repairs in real time with the use of updated digital content. The expense of retraining a work force is considerably less since employees have access to a system that is continually updated with the most current information. Businesses also have the potential to eliminate the enormous expense of creating and printing new manuals to replace outdated versions. This is truly digital transformation at work.

There are so many possibilities for embedding this technology into employee and business processes and workflows. If you are interested in exploring the possibilities, makeSEA and the Magic Leap technology are available to assist with your transformation. Contact Us for a demonstration or free trial.

AR and Your Trade Show Booth

No matter what industry you are in, your trade show booth and the image you present is your show piece and influences the perception others have of your company and brand.

In the trade show booth environment Augmented Reality (AR) provides exhibitors a chance to immerse attendees in a unique brand experience. Now you can wow your competitors with the use of advanced 3D visualization technology and create interest from current and prospective clients. With the help of AR you are no longer bound by the limitations of your booth size or the high costs of transporting equipment to a show. AR allows you to place computer-generated images on top of a real-world setting.

Imagine being able to show case a new piece of equipment too large to transport to the show, or demonstrating the unique differences between two or more models, or visually going through all options available for the product—all without having to have the product physically at the show.

There are many benefits to using technology in your marketing strategy and enhancing your trade show booth with AR. As you build buzz you will also:

  • Increase foot traffic to your booth and increase attendee engagement;
  • Wow competitors with the use of advanced 3D visualization technology;
  • Increase productivity and save on time and costs. Customers can try before they buy and view options in real time - leading to better consumer satisfaction, fewer returns, fewer post-sale hassles;
  • Showcase new products and large cumbersome equipment in real time - even without the product on-site;
  • Give more in-depth details on a product visually. This immersive shopping experience builds customer interest and confidence.

makeSEA has the ability to hybrid render and visualize large, complex, 3D models. Interested in learning more? makeSEA and the Magic Leap technology can transform an existing or new trade show booth with the addition of Augmented Reality. Contact Us for a free trial or demonstration.

Architecture, Design and AR

Recently I made a move to another state and in the process decided to have a small house built rather than rent or buy something I would need to put significant money into immediately. The experience wasn’t bad—but many times I really wished I could see the progress on the build in a way that would have helped me envision the final product more realistically.

As it was, I had to rely on photos and emails and phone calls from a third party who had my interests at heart! Ok, so this house isn’t a custom build but it made me think of how great it would have been if I was working with an architect or designer to be able to collaborate with him/her and to have the ability to visualize and experience the project as it progressed. It would have been so satisfying to be able to see how the build would look on the site I had chosen and to walk through the floor plan to get a better sense of the feel of the space.

Not surprisingly all of this and more can now be done with augmented reality (AR). Seeing a 3D model in context greatly assists in space planning and design visualization. Once confined mostly to large architecture, engineering, and construction firms with large technology groups AR is now available to everyone. Beyond visualization, AR can help the architect and the builder collaborate on change requests by the client and help the client and design team resolve any conflicts before the final sign off. With collaboration comes the potential to save time and costs as you capture and address the problems before the project is completed.

With the use of AR clients will be blown away by the fact that they are looking at and walking around and through a 3D model of a future-space—all while being firmly in the present.

Embrace Change

Change can sometimes be difficult and a little intimidating but the use of augmented reality as part of your marketing, sales and even training efforts is rapidly becoming main stream.

One of the most confusing concepts to grasp is the difference between virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). With virtual reality, you wear a headset that covers your eyes and allows you to enter and interact within a completely synthetic world.

With augmented reality, you also wear a headset, but you see through the glasses where 3D digital content is superimposed onto the real world. You interact both with the 3D digital content and with the real environment – creating a true mixed reality environment and an immersive experience.

AR is now being used in every industry from architecture and construction to trade show booth design and enhanced retail shopping experiences. Use cases are endless and adaptable. Everything from training manuals to a presentation of a building infrastructure to the introduction of a new piece of equipment at your trade show booth can be accomplished with the use of augmented reality.

Imagine, as a construction or architect design firm that you have the ability to present a design or construction change as clients walk through layouts, pick their finishes and request changes. Collaborate in real-time (both locally and remotely). You can design smarter, more efficiently and control costs while you keep everyone on the same page.

We have the ability to hybrid render and visualize large, complex, 3D models. Sound interesting? Contact us to find out how makeSEA and the Magic Leap technology can work for your business.
